In the past twenty years, we have successfully completed over 180 recycling projects and performed more than 250 inventories of hazardous materials. Our projects vary greatly in size and type, ranging from container vessels, car carriers, cruise liners and all kinds of tankers to dredging vessels, tugs, floating storage units, FPSO’s, rigs and offshore platforms.

Organizing the Sustainable Decommissioning of a Seasoned FPU

When the time came for a seasoned Floating Production Unit (FPU) to retire from its station off the coast of West Africa, Sea2Cradle stepped up to organize its sustainable decommissioning. Carnival Sensation: Navigating Toward Sustainable Horizons

In 2022, the Carnival Sensation, a 70,367 GT cruise ship stretching some 855 feet in length, was ready for its well-deserved retirement. After more than thirty years of faithful service, the time had come to give the vessel a sustainable send-off. The owner of the ship, Carnival Corporation enlisted Sea2Cradle to organize this mission. Tom Strang, Senior Vice President of Maritime Affairs at Carnival, is keen to share the story of this project. “Working with Sea2Cradle has been a pleasure.”

Waste Management: Maersk Honam

Four years after a devastating fire raged the forward section of the Maersk Honam, burning the superstructure and all cargo in its holds, the recycling and recovery of all waste from the vessel was finally completed with the receipt of the last recovery documents in April 2022.

The MS Fugro Adventurer

Built in 2002 as the Adams Surveyor at the Guangdong New China Shipyard, the MS Fugro Adventurer was an offshore survey vessel owned and operated by Geo-data specialist Fugro. After almost 20 years of service, Fugro decided to retire the vessel and hired Sea2Cradle to assist in having the ship recycled responsibly.

The Samskip Frost

The Samskip Frost was a reefer vessel constructed in 1985 in Rissa, Norway. After 35 years of service, the vessel was deemed ready for retirement.

The Kulluk

Constructed by Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding in Japan in 1983 and operating in the Canadian Arctic until 1993, the Kulluk was a circular offshore exploratory drilling rig with a diameter as long as nearly three basketball courts.

Salvage Case Study: Los Llanitos

Los Llanitos was a 38,000-tonne, 223 meter bulk carrier that ran aground near Mexico’s Barra de Navidad during hurricane Patricia in 2015.
